Verified Reviewer |Resolved: Canceling a subscription
- - Heritage signup is easy.
- - Cancelling subscriptions requires many clicks on mobile.
- - No NZ phone number to reach a real person.
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with settlement agreement. I tried to follow the instructions given to cancel subscription. There was no fh number here in my country to speak directly.I knew of another person who had used an expensive toll call to cancel their account. It shouldn't be that hard.I dont know if it was my persistent contacts or pissedconsumer intervention that got things moving, but I then received an email saying my subscription had been cancelled. All I wanted in the first place.
My Heritage website is so easy to sign up with. Especially with the ads for their product
But to cancel one's subscription is a series of clicks that my old brain/inability to use the access on my phone makes it a nightmare.
Even after achieving my goal I still had to confirm my cancellation with a trap to keep one's
subscription turned on. There is no phone number available in NZ to speak to real person.

Verified Reviewer |Resolved: Poor service , suddenly no access , even being a subscriber
- - Paid annual subscription in Feb 2026; access stopped after one month.
- - Cannot reach support; chat bot unhelpful; no updates from MyHeritage.
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. They activated my dormant account and de-actived my active account. Was resolved eventually.
Was very difficult and long wait to get a response. keep trying.
I paid the annual subscription in February 2026, and now it worked for one month, and suddenly, no access. I tried to contact them, but it's impossible to speak to anyone.
There is also a 'service chat bot' that has not helped at all. It's very frustrating as a customer, and I still have not received any communication from MyHeritage, and this has been a few days now!
- Website generally works well
- Bill you for repeat billing without any warning
- Bad service

- - I canceled a trial and was charged $102.
- - I explained I had a brain aneurysm and my father died.
- - I was told to send the transaction date and last 4 digits.
I did a trial run with my heritage and within that time I knew I didn't want it so I cancelled. I look on my bank statement they took $102.00 .
I called and explained, that it was a really bad time, because I just was told I have a brain aneurysm and my father passed. So I wanted the situation handled without issue, I just couldn't think.
I was told to send in date of transaction last 4 on card and bank statement. I did that haven't heard anything from them.??

- - California Auto Renewal Law requires clear terms and consent; may involve UCL/FTC.
- - The $299 charge was not clearly disclosed; no consent given.
I would like to formally point out that this situation may violate applicable consumer protection laws.
Under the California Automatic Renewal Law (Cal. Bus.
& Prof. Code § 17600 et seq.), subscription terms, including pricing and automatic renewal, must be presented in a clear and conspicuous manner, and require explicit informed consent.
In my case, the $299 charge was not clearly disclosed, and I did not provide informed consent to this amount or subscription.
Additionally, this may constitute a misleading practice under the California Unfair Competition Law (Cal. Bus.
& Prof. Code § 17200) and Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act.
Given the lack of clear disclosure and informed consent, I request a full refund in accordance with these consumer protection laws

Verified Reviewer |Dysfunctional Customer Service
- - Automation wastes time and leaves basic tasks unresolved.
- - MyHeritage is slower and costly; I'd like to use it later but doubt timely support.
Beware of heavily automated "support" that eats up your time without finding a timely resolution. I understand that automation may weed out the very basic inquiries that do not require human interaction.
However, when attempting to complete the most basic of tasks, the automation only served to provide me with several dead ends. The automated troubleshooting through the website walks the user through the most basic of support features, but when those options are not sufficient, the user is left with unresolved issues and a dead end for support. The user then has to fumble through secondary sources online to attempt to find support.
I use various services such as the one provided here. It is too expensive to maintain indefinitely, so I come back in stretches.
What took less than a minute at Ancestry.com took closer to two hours with MyHeritage. They each have strengths and I have found material on both sites that the other does not have.
I want to be able to use MyHeritage in the future. Honestly though, if this is the type of "timely" support I am to experience at MyHeritage, I am much less liekly to use it oftern moving foraward.
- Too much automation
User's recommendation: Beware of heavy sutomation with a very difficult path to human support that is necessary when their automated website features do not work.

Verified Reviewer |Resolved: Trying to get a refund on my subscription
- - Mastercard charged $191 CAD on Feb 23, 2026 for My Heritage.
- - Cannot stop billing; refund requested after deletion.
- - Prefers Family Tree Maker.
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with full refund. resolved only because of the help of Master Card. get a hold of you credit card company.
I saw that my Mastercard was billed $191.00 (Canadian funds) on Feb. 23, 2026, for a further subscription. I tried to stop this billing, but I could not. I do not want to subscribe to My Heritage any longer as it is too expensive. I have a long-running subscription to Family Tree Maker that works best for me.
Can you please give me some sort of a refund as I have deleted my My Heritage subscription?
Please do not ask me for my My Heritage account number as I cannot find it.
Please rsvp as soon as possible.

Verified Reviewer |Refuse to provide information for refund request
- - Visa charged $316.94 on Feb 24; canceled Feb 25.
- - Refunds requested repeatedly; responses say 7 days.
- - Keep all emails and deadlines; consider BBB.
On Feb 24th, 2026, an email was received indicating that my auto renewal payment of $316.94 was charged to my Visa. I missed it that day, but just after midnight on Feb 25, I saw it and immediately canceled my account and requested a refund.
I have had 2 tickets involved, a personal conversation, and my account extended until Aug 24, 2026, under the previous year. I called my Visa holder to contest, but they were not able to assist because I was (just hours) beyond the new contract. I have further requested a refund (even prorated) on 3 separate occasions, and I get the same response: 7 days are needed to respond. I guess my next complaint is to the BBB.
I caution you, if you ever get involved with this outfit, due diligence is required.
Keep every email and especially watch the deadlines. It's bait and switch.
